France municipal campsite by beach at Ille d’Oléron

It's well worth the drive to this island off the west coast of France, Oléron is a popular tourist destination. There are beaches, surfing and horse-riding are catered for and there are many interesting old buildings.

Camping municipal de Saint-Denis d'Oléron is a 2 star camp site on the north west tip of Ille d'Oléron. Camper vans and motor homes can park up just metres from the beach. There is fishing from the sea wall and plenty to do in the town of Saint-Denis d'Oléron.

15 Euros a night will secure you a pitch for 2 without electric. There are several toilet and shower blocks, a cafe and shop that put the opening hours of many rural French shops to shame!

The bridge from mainland France to Oleron is free to cross.
